Great Rift Valley
Our ground representative will pick you up atJomo Kenyatta International Airport. Alternatively, you will be picked up from your hotel in Nairobi if you are already in the country. Enjoy a flight or road transfer to the Great Rift Valley. An adventurous two hour road trip from Nairobi will stay in your mind for a very long time. The hills, escarpments and natural beauty of this landscape are picturesque. View Mount Longonot a few kilometers away from Naivasha. The gigantic dormant mountain dwarfs other attractions around it.
Check in at Loldia House. This property is on the shores of Lake Naivasha. It has stunning view of Mount Longonot from the lush lawn where grass blends with colorful petals on this farm. Hippos snort their way from the lake to the lawn, and you may also spot other wild species at night. Have lunch on the lawn, under a tree.
Spend the afternoon relaxing on the rocks viewing wildlife on the lake or in your elegant cottage getting rid of jet lag. You can also explore this expansive farm to see different farming activities and breathe in the fresh countryside air in the process.
The cottages at Loldia House are out of this world. They are spacious, with large windows bringing the beauty of the farm inside. Later, have dinner and get some rest while listening to the sound of animals strolling in the compound.
The next day, have breakfast and depart for Lake Nakuru National Park, about an hour away from Lake Naivasha. This is another of the many attractions in the rift valley. Start your excursion with a game drive around the flamingo covered lake. Watch these pink birds from a close distance as they circle around the lake.
Proceed to the national park see wildlife such as lions, giraffes, leopards, cheetahs and hundreds of birds. You will also see numerous rhinos because this park is a sanctuary for this endangered species.
Have lunch under the shade of an acacia tree while viewing wildlife in the splendid park. Later, drive back to Loldia House. Have a sumptuous evening meal and get some rest.

Option 1- Il Moran Camp
Loldia House will treat you to one more sumptuous meal under the shade of a tree on the lush lawn. After breakfast, bid Lake Naivasha and drive to Loldia Airstrip for a flight to the world famous Maasai Mara. Board a Governors Aviation flight to the national reserve. It will touch down in an airstrip in the plains at 11:00am where a road transfer will take you to Il Moran Camp.
If you have been wondering how a safari in paradise feels like, this is it. Ten tents, along the banks of the meandering Mara River, turn a forest of indigenous trees into a luxurious location for your holiday. Dining by the river lets you see hippos, elephants and other animals on the riverbank and in the water. The tents are African themed, en-suite, with handmade furniture such as a large bed and a reading desk.
Have lunch in the dining tent, and leave for an afternoon excursion of the reserve. There is a lot to see from elephants to rhinos, wildebeests, zebras, gazelles and leopards among other animals.
Get back to the intimate Little Governors Camp for a sundowner drink while watching the stunning sun set in the plains. Later, have a candle lit meal and call it a night.
The following day will unpack another adventure. Wake up early for the 5:15am hot air balloon safari. It takes place before dawn when it is possible to see animals in the plains and the wind is conducive for an aerial view of Maasai Mara.
View wildlife, forests, rivers and the grassland from a basket propelled to the sky by an inflatable balloon. An hour later, have a sumptuous breakfast in the bush. Go back to Il Moran Camp to relax and have lunch ahead of the afternoon game drive.
In addition to game drives and hot air balloon safaris, Governors Camp Collection has day tours to Mfangano Island in Lake Victoria. Test your fishing skills and see whether you can catch any Nile perch. You can also enjoy guided nature walks through the plains of Maasai Mara.
On the third day in Maasai Mara, you will take part in three game drives. The first one will start at dawn, the second one at10:30am and the last game drive will be at 3:30pm. In between these game drives, you will have a delicious lunch meal and some quiet time in the lodge.
Option 2- Governors Camp
Wake up to breakfast served under a tree with the sun dancing through the branches. Drive to Loldia airstrip for a flight to Maasai Mara. This Governors Aviation flight will arrive in the famous Mara plains at 11:00am. Sit back for a short road trip through the savannah to the camp.
Watch giraffes, wildebeests, zebras and gazelles in the grassland. Check in at Governors Camp. This once exclusive lodge is now open to anyone who needs a plush place to stay when exploring Maasai Mara. It was once reserved for governors in pre-independent Kenya.
Governors Tented Camp sits in a forest on the banks of Mara River whose waters are home to crocodiles and hippos. The camp’s 37 tents have amazing view of the plains from inside. You just need to have the entrance open, sit on the large bed and watch elephants and zebras in the savannah. Though you will be sleeping under canvas, you will have all the luxury you need from a hot or cold shower to a flush toilet right inside your tent.
Have lunch and relax in the lodge. For a lazy exploration of the sweeping savannah vegetation, sit in the bar tent sipping a drink and just marvel at the landscape. The private deck of each tent also yields a magnificent view.
The first game drive will take place in the afternoon. Spot lions, elephants, wildebeests, zebras, giraffes and gazelles feeding or sleeping in the plains, the riverine forest and on trees. Maasai Mara is famous for the great annual migration, but is also home to over 500 recorded species of birds so there is so much to see and learn.
Get back to the camp at dusk for a sundowner drink by the campfire. The blazing flames light up the compound and let you watch the sun going down the rolling hills. Enjoy a candle lit meal later and get some rest while listening to wildlife cries and roars in the night.
The next day, do things differently. Start with a 5:15am hot air balloon safari. Explore the plains from above before the sun shines over the savannah. This one hour adventure ends with a lavish bush breakfast. Get back to the camp and relax until lunch time. Later, go back to the savannah for an afternoon game drive until the evening.
On the last day of your stay at Governors Camp, you will enjoy an early morning game drive followed by breakfast. A 10:30am excursion will follow, and another one at 3:30pm. There are optional activities such as guided game walks to spot birds and other species of animals. Another exciting moment is flying to Lake Victoria’s Mfangano Island for a fishing expedition.
Option 3- Little Governors Camp
Bid goodbye to the Great Rift Valley after breakfast. Leave Loldia House for Loldia Airstrip so you can fly to the land of the eighth wonder of the world. The Governors Aviation flight from Lake Naivasha will get you to Maasai Mara at 11:00am.
Drive through the plains to Mara River where you will be escorted across by boat to the intimate Little Governors Camp. This plush tented camp sits in a cool section of the reserve, with trees around it and a watering hole at in its front yard. View elephants and other species from your private deck when they come to quench their thirst at the watering hole. The tents are en-suite, spacious and with a large bed and a set of safari chairs for the private veranda.
Have lunch at Little Governors Camp and head to the plains of Maasai Mara for thorough excursion. With the sun high in the sky, the savannah dancing to the wind’s tune and hundreds of animals to keep you company in the grassland, it is a pleasant experience. Go back to the camp after seeing elephants, wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, rhinos, gazelles and lions among others species. Relax with a drink in hand watching activity at the watering hole as a campfire keeps you warm. Later, have dinner and get some rest.
The following day, add more activities on your to-do list of this Great Rift Valley tour. The Governors Camp Collection offers guided nature walks in Maasai Mara and flying safaris to Mfangano Island for fishing and birding tours. On this day, start with a hot air balloon safari at 5:15am. Watch animals and the sweeping savannah from the sky for one hour. When you land, you will be escorted to a table laid out in the middle of the bush for breakfast.
Get back to camp to relax and watch wildlife by the watering hole. After lunch, leave Little Governors Camp for an afternoon game drive until dusk.
