Luxury Wildlife Safari
This 7-day road safari, which features both Fairmont group’s traditional safari lodges and a luxury tented camp experience, showcases the snowcapped peaks of Mount Kenya, the arid but beautiful northern Samburu district, the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve, Lake Nakuru, home to over one million flamingos, and an overview of the lakes and volcanoes of the Great Rift Valley.
You will be picked from your Nairobi hotel or from the JKIA and depart to Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club, situated on the lush, lawn slopes of Mount Kenya at Nanyuki, (about 1 hour) The Mount Kenya Safari Club offers a unique blend of comfort, relaxation and adventure set amidst 100 acres of well-manicured lawns, Ornamental ponds, streams and flower beds. This famous retreat exudes quiet elegance amidst the dramatic backdrop of Mt. Kenya, founded in 1959 by the late film star, William Holden. Arrive in time for lunch. Rest of the day free to enjoy the club activities. Dinner and overnight at the club.

At an Extra Cost You can engage in activities at the club including Guided game walks in the Forest Reserve which are available thought out the day, though the best times are early morning. Clients are escorted by a naturalist as well as armed Kenya Wildlife rangers, which makes for a very interesting three-hour walk, as the expert is a mine of information about the animals. Emphasis is placed on the flora and fauna, the bird-life, insects and the ecosystem.
The Club is home of a large number of bird species including starlings, hornbills, secret ibis and many more. Our naturalist will take you on a daily basis at 4pm on a one hour walk within the Club boundaries. Riding on horses through the Forest Reserve gives you a unique vantage point, as you can get very close to the animals.
Mountain bikes are available at the Club either to ride within the Club or up the slopes of Mount Kenya with an expert rider.
Alternatively, you can take a full day excursion to Ol Pejeta Sweetwaters Conservancy or to Aberdare National Park.
All these activities can be organized at an extra cost.

After breakfast you will be collected for the day’s drive taking you to the floor of the Great Rift Valley, to Kigio Wildlife Conservancy. Lunch at Kigio Wildlife Camp. Evening walk and optional night game drive are some of the activities you can engage in. Kigio Wildlife camp is a special natural retreat inside the impressive 3500 acre Kigio Wildlife Conservancy. This brand new, stunning property provides superb accommodations in an unbeatable location overlooking the glorious woodlands and the Malewa River, which together attract over 250 species of birds to the area. At night Hippo and Buffalo visit the camp to feed on ground salts and vegetation, in the morning zebra and giraffe wander through as more than 250 types of birds sing way.

After breakfast, drive to the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve, backdrop to ‘the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth’, the annual migration of over one million wildebeest. Arrive in time for lunch at the Fairmont Mara Safari Club located in the Ol Choro Ol Roua conservation area. After lunch, spend the afternoon on safari in Kenya’s most popular reserve. Drive back to the club in time for a swim, a hot shower, campfire cocktails and dinner in the restaurant at the center of camp

Sunday and Monday
You will have two days of wildlife-viewing opportunities in the Maasai Mara Reserve, also known as the “Jewel of Africa”, a site with one of the largest and the most spectacular animal migrations in the world. The reserve is inhabited by many of Africa’s most popular wild animals, including lion, cheetah, elephant, leopard, black rhino and hippo. There are also over 500 resident species of birds in the park including ostrich, larks and sunbirds as well as the lovely Lilac-breasted Roller.
The area is famous for rolling grassland and for the Mara River, which runs through the reserve from north to south. The reserve covers an area of 700 square miles and forms part of the Serengeti ecosystem, hosting the world famous spectacle of the annual migration of up to two million wildebeest, thousands of zebra and an escort of carnivores from the Serengeti plains that follow the rains and succulent new grass. A costly trek as many of the lame, laggard and sick will fall prey to the ravening pack of predators and many more will die in the swirling flood waters of the Mara River as they try to cross it.
Optional activities include a visit to local Maasai village to experience the local culture and way of life. You can also take a balloon ride for an exhilarating experience over the savannah as the early sun rises and the animals are more active.

After breakfast, bid farewell to the Masai Mara as you set on your journey back to Nairobi. Drive back down the Great Rift Valley to Nairobi, passing the dormant volcano, Mount Longonot, and lakes Elementeita and Naivasha on the way. Keep an eye out for herds of giraffe and gazelle and head up the escarpment. You will arrive in Kenya’s bustling capital city Nairobi in the early afternoon. Transfer to your to your Nairobi hotel, or to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Depart Nairobi.
