Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Leave the open plains of Samburu for another adventure, this time, in the plains of Laikipia close to Mount Kenya. Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a privately-owned reserve with vast savannah plains that house different species popular in Africa. The animals to see in this reserve include lions, giraffes, zebras, rhinos, chimpanzees and the leopards.

Check in at the luxurious Sweetwaters Tented Camp, which sits in front of a watering hole.  This lodge has en-suite tents furnished sufficiently for a comfortable holiday in this region. Have lunch at the Rhino Restaurant, which is housed in a building dating back to colonial times. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive in the reserve and get back to the lodge for dinner.

The flood lit watering hole makes a great place for a sundowner from your private veranda. Other activities to make this day memorable include horse riding, nature walks, educational tour of the information centre and a visit to the chimps’ sanctuary that houses orphaned chimpanzees.

 Lake Nakuru National Park

Wake up to a hearty breakfast, and shortly afterwards head for the birding capital of the Great Rift Valley– Nakuru.

Arrive and check in at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge, a luxury resort overlooking Lake Nakuru. Enjoy a sumptuous lunch as you take in the scenic view of Lake Nakuru National Park.

Leave the lodge for an excursion of the lake and its flora and fauna. The first stop is watching the millions of flamingos that knit a pink blanket over Lake Nakuru. Other animals to see are Rothschild’s giraffes, colobus monkeys, leopards and lions in Lake Nakuru National Park.

A birding tour will enlighten you on the many species that make melodious music in the park and around the lodge. You should also expect a tour of the rhino sanctuary within this park to discover both the white and black rhino species.

Get back to the Sarova Lion Hill Lodge for dinner and a goodnight’s sleep.

Maasai Mara National Reserve

Leave Nakuru for Maasai Mara and check into Sarova Mara Game Camp. This lodge gives picturesque view of the plains teeming with wildebeests, lions, elephants, zebras and antelopes among other animals.

Explore the plains after lunch searching for various species and the over 500 species of birds. Maasai Mara is popular all over the world because it houses all the main species expected in the best wildlife safari expedition.

Even more thrilling is the fact that the great wildebeest migration triples the number of wildebeests, antelopes, zebras and predators in this reserve. Witness this baffling phenomenon if your trip is between July and October.

Go back to the Sarova Mara Game Camp for dinner and rest ahead of another excursion the next day.

Wake up to a delicious meal at Sarova Mara. After a six day-tour, prepare to leave the country on the seventh day. Drive out of the park to Nairobi to catch your flight out of the country.
