Have an Extraordinary Safari
If you want to explore a breathtaking, unspoilt attraction in Kenya, explore Lake Elementaita. This soda lake sits on the awe-inspiring Great Rift Valley, along which lies most of the country’s wonders. The lake is about an hour and a half’s drive from Nairobi. However, only a handful of visitors prioritise a trip to this hushed but spectacular attraction.
Elementaita comes from a Maasai word that means dust place. True to the meaning of this word, the area is dry and dusty all the way to Gilgil. You will spot the lake from the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway but for an up-close look at the beautiful landscape, you must drive to it. This lake is between other interesting attractions – Lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru.
A day’s tour of the lake is sufficient to uncover its hidden gems. These include wildlife and plant species in and around the lake such as zebras, gazelles, elands, tilapia, flamingos and warthogs. Enjoy a guided walk to the lake’s shore and spend a few hours taking in the beauty of the lake.
