Kiambu County borders Nairobi and Kajiado counties, and it is part of the northern Nairobi metropolitan area. The origin of the word Kiambu is unclear though a number of theories seek to demystify this county’s name. One supposition is that Kiambu comes from the name of a clan, mbari ya mbuu and another alleges that it means kia mbuu(a place of drizzles).
