A Steak House in the City
Leave the bustling streets of Kenya’s capital city and drive about an hour out of town, on Lang’ata Road, to the Carnivore Restaurant. This steak house is about 4km from the city centre, next to Wilson Airport.
It is a popular spot for locals and foreigners to enjoy mouth-watering steak for lunch or dinner. The Carnivore Nairobi is a trendsetter, being among the first establishments to offer a wide range of meat dishes that include bush meat delicacies like ostrich, zebra and crocodile.
Other succulent offers at this city steak house are beef, lamb, chicken and camel meat. Dawa, which means medicine in Swahili, is a signature Brazilian cocktail that diners always ask for here. Soups, salads, sauces and desserts are on the Carnivore Nairobi menu too.
Diners start the feast as soon as they find a seat at the Carnivore Café Nairobi. Soups, brown bread, butter are brought to the table immediately. A large pit of roasting meat on swords welcomes diners.
What Makes the Carnivore Special?
The chefs roast the meat over charcoal, and bring the nicely done steak to the table on skewers. Diners watch waiters carving meat at the table. The all-you-can-eat buffet is a feast for meat lovers because the waiters stop coming to the table when a diner says enough! This restaurant does not serve carnivores only; vegetarians are welcome too.
The Carnivore Restaurant’s beautiful, serene setting makes it a great place to escape the heat and noise of the city centre. There are tropical gardens and spacious grounds to host events.
The Simba Saloon, next to the main restaurant, serves ala carte meals. It has a nightclub too, which entertains revellers from Wednesday to Sunday and a play area for children. Pop in for pizza, steak, hamburgers, salads etc. The Simba Saloon can accommodate about 450 people (seated) and about 2000 people during concerts while the Carnivore Restaurant has a capacity of 400 people.
The Carnivore Gardens hosts events regularly such as the Blankets and Wine Festival. It also hosts the Carnifare, a family fun day held every last Sunday of the month. Other facilities available at the Carnivore in Nairobi include a gift shop.
