Nairobi is a unique city, where you can stay close to a national park. Emakoko is one of the few lodges in the world that overlook a national park. It is set on a 15-acre property adjacent to Nairobi National Park. The lodge is surrounded by two rivers, Mbagathi and Emakoko rivers.
The Emakoko has 10 cottages, built in an open plan, offering en-suite facilities. This lodge has a dining area, a spacious lounge, a swimming pool facing the river.
This lodge is set in a serene location, surrounded by a forest of mature trees that include the fig tree, which is symbolic in Kikuyu traditions.
Activities and Experiences
At Emakoko, guests enjoy daily game drives in Nairobi National Park. These guided game drives take guests to the habitat of species like giraffes, lions, rhinos among other animals found in the park.
Additionally, guests can visit the nearby David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, which protects orphaned rhinos and elephants. They can also take a tour of the Giraffe Centre, which is a breeding sanctuary for Rothschild giraffes. The city centre is less than an hour away from the lodge; guests can visit the city to shop in malls and cultural markets.
Within the lodge, fun activities include sundowners, massage and swimming.
The Emakoko has ten cottages, providing a capacity of 20 guests. These open plan chalets have either king size double or twin beds. They are en-suite, with both a bathtub and a shower overlooking the national park. All cottages have a fireplace and a veranda. Some cottages are family rooms, with space for an additional bed.

Location/How to Get to
Emakoko is about a 25 minutes’ drive from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, which is the main international airport in the country. It takes about half that time to drive from Wilson Airport, which is close to Nairobi National Park. Entry to the lodge is through the park.
One of the most remarkable dining experiences is enjoying a cocktail or a beverage by the pool or the viewing area. These two are the best places to relax.
Emakoko lodge has a common dining area in the main building. It has a lounge, a fireplace and a veranda overlooking the river. Full board accommodation caters for meals, house wines, beer and soft drinks. Guests with dietary preferences should inform the lodge in advance.
