Mara Plains CampMaasai Mara National Reserve
The undulating plains of Maasai Mara are home to the big five species that draw thousands of tourists to Kenya. Mara Plains Camp is best suited to provide luxurious nights in this famous game reserve. It is situated in Olare Motorogi Conservancy, bordering Masai Mara Game Reserve to the north, along Ntiakatek River. This conservancy is rich in predators like leopards and cheetahs, which wander around the camp.
Mara Plains Camp is a lavish, small camp. It has seven tents only. These spacious tents are raised from the ground so that guests see the savannah from the deck. There are endless miles of unoccupied savannah because the conservancy has about five camps only, which means each guest has about 700 acres of privacy.
Activities and Experiences
Masai Mara has a high tourist density especially from July to October because of the great annual migration. Nevertheless, visitors can have an adventurous, uncrowded tour of the rolling plains by choosing Mara Plains Camp, which is in Olare Motorogi Conservancy. All conservancies around Mara have a strict policy about the number of tour vehicles in the plains, per day. Therefore, there is a low vehicle density at any given time.
Game viewing is the best adventure in Mara Plains Camp. The skilled tour guides can track predators and other Mara species easily. Guests explore the conservancy in open game drive vans with a removable canvas roof for those who want to take the best photographs. There are night game drives too in the conservancy.
Other excellent activities in Mara Plains Camp are bush dining and picnics, a visit to the neighbouring Mara reserve, enjoying sundowner cocktails, hot air balloon safaris and cultural visits.
For decades, Masai Mara has been associated with luxurious wildlife safaris. Mara Plains Camp lives up to this expectation by providing a lavish under the canvas experience in seven tents. It has a capacity of 14 guests only, which ensures the staff is dedicated to providing personalized hospitality services.
This luxury camp is situated along Ntiakatek River, and the tents are raised from the ground, for spectacular view of the conservancy.

Mara Plains Camp uses solar power. Guests can charge phones and cameras in the tents. WiFi is accessible in some areas of the camp, and there is mobile phone network too. Guests can request for laundry services.
Location/How to Get to
A flight from Nairobi is the most convenient mode of transport to Mara Plains Camp. There are daily scheduled flights from Wilson Airport in Nairobi to Ol Kiombo Airstrip in Maasai Mara. Guests then board a road transfer from Ol Kiombo to Mara Plains Camp, a distance that takes about 20 minutes.
There are daily scheduled flights from Nanyuki and Lewa to Ol Kiombo too. Alternatively, guests can board a private charter flight from Wilson Airport to Olare Motorogi Conservancy, which is only 20 minutes away from the camp.
Accommodation in Mara Plains Camp is available on full board basis. The bar has a variety of house wines, beers and soft drinks. Guests with special dietary needs need to inform the chef in advance.
The camp serves complementary refreshments, including snacks, during game drives. Tea and coffee are served during the morning game drive while a sundowner cocktail ends the afternoon.
Events & Meetings
Olare Motorogi Conservancy is beautiful and uncrowded. It is an exceptional venue for events like bush weddings and family holidays. A couple can have an intimate bush wedding in Mara Plains Camp, witnessed by close friend and family members.
Brief Description of Rooms
There are seven spacious tents, spread out in the conservancy, overlooking the riverine forest of Ntiakatek River. These tents are octagonal in shape, and raised from the ground to afford guests a panorama of the plains. The tents open on three sides.

The seven tents in this camp are en-suite. The facilities therein are a modern toilet, a shower and a wash sink with two basins.
